About us!

"Gaikoku-jin" means "Person from the outside". In other words a foreigner.
"Gaikoku-jin" is often shortened to "Gai-jin" and is felt by some to be a derogatory word.
However I feel at ease with the tag "Gai-jin" and hope to show Japan as I see it through my "Gaijin Eyes".

After living in one place for a long time, there is a tendency to become "blind" to the things around you.
Newcomers, on the other hand, tend to see the things that locals have become "blind" to.
At Gaijin-Eyes we have the advantage of having Douglas's newcomer eyes to spot the unusual things here in Japan and Megumi's Japanese eyes which can help put names and descriptions to the things noticed by Douglas.

Our aim is to be able to provide you with the still pictures and/or the video footage that you are searching for.
Video stock footage is shot in HDV 1080i format (16:9 aspect) .
We are able to provide footage covering a wide selection of different aspects of Japanese customs and traditions as well as the nature of the land and the life of the people.
