My first attempts at exporting my timeline as a Quicktime Reference file failed everytime. The error I was getting is shown above.

I asked over on the Avid MC User Forums and was advised to make a"Video Mixdown" of my timeline.

After doing that I had a timeline like the one shown to the left here.
